There have already been lots of new adoptions at Orphans of the Storm® in the new year! In fact, I only have one new pooch for you to meet today because the other new ones I walked this week have already been adopted.

Puppy the three-year-old chocolate Labrador Retriever mix may not technically be a puppy anymore, but he certainly still acts like he is! Puppy is a boisterous boy who loves to play. When we got to the off-leash run, I tossed a tennis ball for him and he chased right after it. Rather than bringing it back, though, he just ran around with the ball in his mouth and his tail wagging. There were a couple of occasions where Puppy got distracted and dropped the ball, so I could throw it again and he could chase it again. Puppy is always on the move, so I barely even got a picture with all of him in the frame. (Going through the photos was like “There’s Puppy’s tail! And this one has Puppy’s nose! But where is the rest of Puppy?”)

Puppy is also very snuggly. He isn’t shy about giving people doggy hugs, and he loves to get scratched on his back and by his hips. When I sat down on the bench, Puppy kept going under my legs as if they were a back-scratcher. Puppy does this very cute thing: he’ll put his head and front legs on the ground and start to roll over, but he’ll keep his back legs standing while you pet him until he eventually loses his balance and flips all the way over so you can give him a belly rub. This happened multiple times and it made me laugh each time. Puppy will definitely bring a smile to whichever lucky person or people adopt him! On your next visit to the shelter, be sure to say hi to Puppy.
