This Saturday and Sunday, October 28-29, Orphans of the Storm® is waiving the adoption fee for all dogs to celebrate the end of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! (The waived fee includes spay/neuter, but costs for final shots still apply.) If you’ve been thinking about adopting a dog but haven’t gotten around to it yet, now is the perfect time to come in and meet some pooches!

Prince the five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix is about as ready to go home as any dog could be. Prince is housebroken, knows some commands like “sit” and would be eager to learn more, gets along with children, and walks great on the leash. With all these traits and skills already, your main job would be to make sure Prince gets all the love he deserves!

Orphans of the Storm Dogs: Prince 1

Prince is a good walking buddy

Prince is a friendly boy. He likes getting pet and will give the occasional doggy kiss. He has just the smallest hint of an underbite, which makes him look like he’s pouting, but his wagging tail lets you know how happy he is. We passed a couple dogs during our walk and Prince just gave them a quick glance and kept going. This handsome boy is ready to show you what a great family member he can be. Come in soon to meet Prince!

Prince is a real cutie

Bronson the two-year-old Beagle mix is one of the cuddliest dogs. He loves giving doggy hugs and kisses, sitting in your lap, snuggling next to you on the bench, and basically anything else that involves close contact. Whenever I knelt down or stopped walking, Bronson immediately had his paws in my lap. At one point, he would stop walking after just a few feet so I would cuddle with him some more, then walk a few more feet, stop, and repeat.

Bronson’s signature doggy hug

Bronson was also very patient when we put him in a spider costume for his Halloween portrait. We had to stick his floppy ears through the hat multiple times and he never tried to pull away or shake us off. Bronson can be pretty bark-y around other dogs but otherwise was quiet during our time together. Bronson would do best in an adults-only home. If he sounds like the pal for you, come in soon to meet Bronson!

Bronson is always alert on his walks

Nash the two-year-old black Labrador Retriever mix is a big boy. He was super excited to come out for a walk, even though it was raining (hence the blurry photos). Nash walks pretty well on the leash despite his large size, though he can pull occasionally if there is a particular smell he wants to investigate. Nash was also happy to hop up on the bench and take a seat so I could pet him some more.

Orphans of the Storm Dogs: Nash 1

Nash sits like a good boy

Nash didn’t pay any attention to other dogs when they passed us during our walk, except for a quick look to see who was coming. Being a Lab, Nash showed some interest in a tennis ball when we were in the off-leash run. Mostly he just liked exploring and coming back to me for more pats on the back. Nash can be a little hesitant around men and seems to prefer the company of women, so he might do best in a home with only women or with a laid-back man. Stop in soon to see if Nash is the one for you!
