The Orphans of the Storm® website is undergoing some maintenance, so not all of the pooches profiled this week have a link. Be sure to visit the shelter in person to see all of the dogs available!

Stella the four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix is a happy girl who gets along with pretty much everybody. She likes to snuggle with people and is also friendly with other dogs. She’s happy to have another four-legged walking companion when she goes around the woodland preserve! Stella walks nicely on the leash and is polite and well-behaved.

Stella enjoyed exploring the off-leash run on her own, but came back to me every once in a while to get pet. When we were on the trail, she was eager to take cuddle breaks and get pet. Stella also knows to smile for the camera. Come in soon to see if sweet Stella is the pooch for you!

Stella wasn’t sure what to make of Apollo on the other side of the fence at first!

Lennie the one-year-old Mountain Cur mix has plenty of puppy energy. He was spinning in circles when he realized it was his turn to come out for a walk! Lennie was off to a running start and wanted to continue running all the way around the woodland preserve even though it was a hot day. Thankfully for me, I convinced him to slow down just a bit.

Lennie likes to sniff

Lennie is very attentive and likes watching what’s going on around him. He sniffed at some toys when we were in the off-leash run but may need to be taught the finer points of “fetch.” Lennie has a cute, extra-fluffy tail that’s always up and wagging. Be sure to say hello to Lennie on your next visit to the shelter!

Picka the four-year-old Mountain Cur mix has the cutest face. Pictures don’t do her justice! Her ears go both up and down, and either direction is adorable. Picka likes to move quickly at first, but she settled into being a nice walking companion as we made our way around the woodland preserve. Picka also loves to get pet.

Picka has experience being in a home. She’s already housebroken, and she gets along with children. Picka can be protective of her home, though, so proper introductions with visitors will help her be more comfortable. If you’re looking for a family-friendly dog to join your family, come in soon to meet Picka!

Dusty the five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix is a sweet girl. She likes getting attention and lots of pets–and luckily for whoever is petting her, she has the softest ears! Dusty is a great walking companion who walks nicely on the leash and rarely pulls. She does like to stop occasionally and take long, thorough sniffs.

Dusty is easy-going. She’s already gone to off-site events, so we know she doesn’t mind crowds and also gets along with other dogs. Dusty has that signature Hound baying-type bark and can sometimes be talkative, but was quiet and content during our walk. Stop by soon to meet Dusty!

I also saw Barney (who knows sit and high-five), Lucy (who enjoyed getting hosed down in the heat of the day), Lucy Locket, and Nash.
