Looking for a new best friend, but not sure where to start? Meet the cute, friendly, and overall amazing dogs available for adoption at Orphans of the Storm® Animal Shelter. Each week, a number of dogs most eager to find a new home will be introduced so you can learn more about them before visiting the shelter yourself.

I will be visiting the shelter every week and spending one-on-one time with each dog so I can get a good sense of their individual personalities. Orphans of the Storm® has many dogs looking for a good home, so I will try to profile as many of them as I can. Every dog deserves a second chance — read about them here, visit them at the shelter, and find the perfect one (or more!) to bring home.

Orphans of the Storm Dog: Cooper

My family’s own Orphans of the Storm® adoptee, Cooper the Beagle/Basset Hound mix

You will also find information about some of the shelter’s fun and exciting off-site events happening in the Chicagoland area.

I have been a dog person my entire life and believe that shelter dogs make wonderful pets. All they want is a loving home with a loving family.

I’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions about the blog, or would like to be interviewed, please email meetthepooches@gmail.com

How do u adopt from here

    • When you first come to the shelter, you’ll fill out a form with some information about yourself and then you can walk through the kennels to see what dogs you might like to take out and meet. The adoption fee is $90, though additional medical fees may apply depending on the dog. You can learn more about the adoption process here: http://www.orphansofthestorm.org/adopt
      Thank you for reading!
