Orphans of the Storm® Dogs Say Thank You to All Fundraiser Attendees!

Orphans of the Storm®’s 2018 annual fundraiser was another great success! To celebrate the shelter’s 90th anniversary, there is a great video about its history and accomplishments. You may recognize some familiar faces in the video! And below are some newer faces who are ready to become part of the shelter’s happy statistics by finding their furever home.

Gypsy the five-year-old Black and Tan Coonhound mix can be a little nervous at first when she meets someone new, but warms up and eventually shows her true, playful personality. She wasn’t too sure about getting her leash put on, but Gypsy ended up being a good walking companion. She likes to stop and sniff, which makes sense with her Hound nose, but doesn’t pull much on the leash.

Gypsy has those lovable Hound eyes and floppy Hound ears

Gypsy was happy to take a break every once in a while and get some pets. Gypsy gets along with other dogs, so she could go to a home with or without another furry friend. However, she can be protective of her food so would do best if she eats separately. She isn’t a fan of farm animals, though. The domestic home life is the one for her! Stop in soon to say hello to Gypsy.

Zainie the four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix is an easy-going girl. She greeted me with a wagging tail and waited patiently to get her leash put on. Zainie can pull a bit when she first comes out of her kennel, but she walked great on the leash when we were out on the woodland preserve trail.

Zainie has such a sweet face

Zainie seems very relaxed. We passed a couple other dogs during our walk and she barely gave them a second glance. She is always happy to get attention and stood right by my side so I could pet her some more. Zainie looks like she may have had puppies in the not-too-distant past. Now she’s ready to join a human family! Come in soon to see if Zainie is the one for you.

Mulan the two-year-old Heeler/Husky mix was barking in excitement when she realized it was her turn to come out, but she didn’t make another peep once her leash was on. I figured Mulan would want to run rather than walk since she’s part Husky, but it turns out that Mulan is an excellent walking buddy. She didn’t pull on the leash at all and preferred to talk long, thorough stops to sniff.

Mulan’s giant ears will make you smile

Mulan seems to like other animals. She gets along with cats. She also was wagging her tail at John Boy through the fence and the two of them were play-bowing at each other. Mulan is a friendly girl who came back to me often to get pet. She didn’t seem overly interested in toys, but would enjoy having a yard to call her own. Be sure to say hello to Mulan on your next visit!

Tender the two-year-old Mountain Feist mix is super snuggly. She will hop into your lap and give you very enthusiastic doggy kisses as soon as she’s given the opportunity. Once she settles down a bit, her kisses are gentler and she will sit still in your lap for a proper cuddle session. She particularly enjoys getting her hips scratched.

Tender is ready for her close-up

Tender likes to walk at a quick pace when she’s not in your lap. She can pull on the leash a bit, but mostly does fine as long as you’re going at the same pace she is. Tender could potentially be interested in agility! She was happy to jump up and over the bench on multiple occasions. Tender is a sweet and fun little girl. Come in soon to meet her!

I also saw Barney, Bella, Belle (who gave me lots of doggy kisses), Big Boy (who had a fun time playing fetch) and Mojo, Brutus, Buster, Carlos, Dunkin, Finley, Goliath, Harley, Jasmine, Jess, Lucy, Nash, Parker, Sadie, Scotty, and Vanilla (who sits nicely while she’s getting her leash put on).
